How this works

→ Tasks marked Mandatory block shift sign-out until completed or skipped with a reason. Medication and handover notes are always mandatory.
→ Click the checkbox to mark a task done. Evidence (photo, note, MAR signature) is requested where relevant before the check sticks.
Skipping a task requires a reason (illness, weather, equipment, participant choice, etc.) and is logged against the shift for the coordinator to review.
→ Templates per house define the default daily task set — new participants or events (OT visit, transport) add to today's list automatically.
→ Wiring tasks → shift sign-out → timesheet release is a later build. Today the UI shows the gate visually and the data model is ready.

How this fits together

→ A handover is created automatically when a worker's shift is ending. It pre-fills from today's tasks, the MAR, the incident log, and the calendar so nothing has to be re-typed.
→ Per-resident quick-flags (mood, meds, flags) make a handover usable on a phone in under 3 minutes for most routine shifts.
Each per-resident note auto-saves to that participant's progress notes on their profile, tagged Handover, with the quick-flag chips preserved as structured tags. So the same note Priya types here appears in Dara's, Thomas's, Lana's and Jamal's progress notes — no double entry. Goal links are included automatically when checked.
→ Incidents and risk-tagged alerts are required fields if any were logged during the shift — the composer will refuse to sign until they're acknowledged.
→ Signing the handover is one of the mandatory tasks gating shift sign-out (see Today's tasks tab — "Shift handover note · Priya → Basit"). Incoming worker must acknowledge receipt, also logged.
→ Every handover is attached to the shift record and becomes part of the audit trail. Coordinators can search, filter (by resident, tag, incident), and print a range as a shift diary. The same entry is visible from both sides — the location handover log and the participant's progress notes — because there's a single source of truth.

How staff matching works
These are recommendations, not rules. The rostering engine uses them to suggest who fills a shift — but any qualified worker can be assigned. A coordinator can override, and the override is logged with a reason. Change the behaviour in Settings → Matching.

Location settings

Enforce recommended staff matching
When ON, the rostering engine refuses to auto-assign workers flagged as "Avoid" for a resident. When OFF, it shows a warning but lets the coordinator proceed. Overrides are logged either way.
Prefer primary workers over high-matches
Rostering engine will fill from the Primary list first, then High, then others. Turn off for simpler name-based rostering.
Require staff consistency (rotation cap)
Limit how often any one resident sees a new unfamiliar worker. Default: max 2 new workers per week.
Active night (not sleepover)
This house has an awake worker overnight. Switch off if transitioning to sleepover arrangement (Jamal's PEG feed schedule currently prevents this).
Allow new participant intake
Off while at full capacity. When on, location appears in the available SIL options for new referrals.
Shared kitchen & meals
Enables group cooking workflows and shared grocery budgeting. Residents can opt out of individual meals.
House meeting cadence
Scheduled house meeting for all residents and SW. Frequency: Weekly · Fridays 18:30.
